A tiny or apparently empty JSON file may contain no visits for the chosen period. Verify its source, inspect the same dates in Google Maps, then export again if needed.
Before you start
Compare the dates in Google Maps with the JSON file before changing video settings. An empty export and a period with no recorded visits need different fixes.
What to check
If backup was enabled, review the restore options in Google Maps. Avoid assuming a missing day can be recovered from a file that does not contain it.
- Check whether the exported JSON is unusually small and whether its dates match your trip.
- Compare the same dates in the Google Maps app and export again if there is recorded data there.
