Google Maps can automatically delete Timeline data after three months, eighteen months or thirty-six months. Check the setting on the phone and whether an earlier backup exists.

Check Timeline on the phone first. Google Maps stores the data on the device, and its menus can vary by platform and app version.
What to check
The official Google help page explains export, backup and auto-delete settings. A JSON export cannot add visits that were never recorded.
- Inspect the phone’s auto-delete setting for three, eighteen or thirty-six months.
- Review any existing encrypted backup; changing the setting now will not recreate already deleted days.
